Section 504

Eligibility

Question #10

Q10:  Is dyslexia a medical diagnosis and who can diagnose dyslexia?  Is an outside diagnosis of dyslexia required in order to be eligible for special education and/or Section 504 plan?

Question #17

Q17:  The school says Section 504 plans do not provide for services only accommodations for my dyslexic student.  Is this correct?

Question #18

Q18:  The school says my dyslexic student doesn’t qualify for special education.  My dyslexic student is spending 3x longer to complete homework and study for tests and is earning passing grades. Can my student still qualify for a Section 504 plan and receive services?
